"We cannot become what we want to be by remaining what we are."
-Max DePree
This is the theme I have chosen as I begin this new year with an open heart full of gratitude and best intentions. This quote has a lot of meaning to me at this particular time in my life. I find myself jumping from task to task whether it be for my online classes, for work, or for my familial duties and responsibilities. I am constantly making lists of things that I need to get done and by the time I check mark one item off the list, I find that there are at least three more items that need to be added in. The work never stops and the job is never quite done. While it may seem overwhelming at times, it brings me great joy to think of the bigger picture. Sure, I'm busy and rarely have "free" time but all these sacrifices and all the struggle is leading me somewhere. It is not in vain. I must make use of the tools and talents that God has bestowed upon me to keep moving forward, keep improving my life and those around me and to keep striving to be the BEST ME; For, "we cannot become what we want to be by remaining what we are."
BIBA 2014!
Your reflection has given me the idea that I need to create my own motto to push through this year. It is a different type of year for us as we are going back to school and we are doing all the right steps to becoming better versions of whoever we were to begin with. Thanks for the share! Biba!
ReplyDeleteVery encouraging words, Bianca! It is true, all this hard work is for something great!
ReplyDeleteLove the quote. A new year always has people thinking how to improve themselves! It's great to know that you are striving to be the best you. Keep your head up and work hard. You will get it all done and I'm sure it'll be your best!
ReplyDeleteBianca, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. Like you, I sometimes feel overwhelmed with the never-ending list of "things to do." The quote you shared really captures the essence of our journey.
