Literacy
The National Children’s Literacy Website is a
not-for-profit website that is dedicating to promoting literacy as “an integral
factor in the growth of society, and enhancing literacy in a variety of home
and child care settings.”
This is a perfect read for those looking at taking a
proactive approach at promoting literacy in their homes and childcare
facilities. This site also offers excellent and practical parenting tips that I
(as a first time parent) found really interesting. Some of the topics include: General Literacy
Tips, 5 Reading Skills Children Need, How Schools Teach Reading and The First 5
Years Matter and Educational Activities (to name a few).
Overall, I would like to promote
this website and encourage both parents, and educators alike to be mindful of
these tips in order to promote literacy and improve a child’s attitude toward
reading that will carry them throughout their lives.
