IRA Effective Literacy Website #1
Storyline Online
http://www.storylineonline.net/I chose this website because it is truly amazing and engaging. It is basically members of the actors guild reading stories aloud to children. My favorite is Harry the Dirty Dog, by Gene Zion, and read by Betty White. This website has a small collection of children's books. All which are read aloud by an actor. The books seem to come alive as the talented actors read the books. The videos are played through youtube. Children will want to go and read the books themselves after they have listened to them read aloud. A very creative way to keep children interested in reading and learning to read well. Here is the link to the book, enjoy! http://www.storylineonline.net/harry-the-dirty-dog/

I was just looking at this site tonight and was going to use it for my IRA assignment. Didn't you include this in our presentation for the LA Conference? If I remember correctly, that was the first time I heard about it. It really is a great site!
