Labrador's Geo-Narrative
"The Great Art Heist"
A notorious art collector has hired you and a group of professionals to search, hunt, and collect some of the world's most well-known artworks. Should you choose to accept his request, you will each earn a 100pts for your efforts. For those who manage to get all the artworks first, the collector will give an additional 50pts bonus. If you choose not to participate, you will lose a huge percentage of what you recently earned.
In front of you are two computers for your usage. One computer for your historian to find information about the artwork and the other one for your hunter to operate the "Google Earth" software, as well as find the artworks' locations. When the hunter finds the location, the thief comes in to take the artwork and log in its coordinates on paper. You will have to mark it off first before proceeding to the next artwork. When the list is all marked off, the runner delivers the "goods," or your list, to the art collector to receive your group's rewards. You will be given only 20 minutes. Time is of the essence. You may begin now!!
This narrative is the introduction to a scavenger hunt activity involving art masterpieces and "Google Earth." It covers content "Standards #3: Understanding Cultural and Historical Context."
