Literacy Website #6: Reading is Fundamental Reflection

Reading is Fundamental (RIF) is the largest children’s literacy nonprofit in the United States. RIF’s mission is to motivate young children to read by working with them, their parents, and community members to make reading a fun and beneficial part of everyday life.  RIF’s highest priority is reaching undeserved children from birth to 8.  RIF’s vision is a literate America in which all children have access to books and discover the joys and value of reading. This website is a must see if you will like to promote literacy in your classroom, outside of your classroom, and in your home.  The picture that you see is one of the webpages RIF provides called Let's Read as a Family! that is geared to help those who speak Spanish, however, I believe this webpage can be used for any ethnicity.  RIF provides teachers and parents with advice and tips of how to promote reading and writing at home.  One feature I really liked in RIF are the activities that integrates literacy. The activities range from Math to Writing that I plan on using in my classroom. I already del.ici.ous and tabbed this wonderful website. If you will like to visit and explore RIF, which I highly recommend, visit RIF at www.rif.org.
