www.education.com

Education.com (http://www.education.com) is an online resource aimed toward parents, but which can also be used by teachers.  The site provides ideas for activities, printable worksheets, informational videos, and even a school directory.  These resources can help parents to help their children be more successful in school.  The information shared is relevant to children of all ages and grade levels.  There are also featured articles on family fun and health.  All in all, it is a well-rounded site because it provides a variety of information, all of which lends to the development of the whole-child.
Basic membership to the site is free.  This gives you access to all of the articles and videos.  I was also able to download one free workbook relevant to my grade level from the site.  Other worksheets and workbooks are offered at minimal cost after that.  You can also subscribe to a monthly membership for $3.99 per month.  This “Plus” membership status gives you unlimited worksheet downloads, unlimited printable skills workbooks, 12 activity books, and a bonus photo book.  Subscribers will be billed annually at $47.88.

I would highly recommend this site to other teachers and parents.  The variety and amount of resources on it makes it very useful and I feel the low cost is worth it.  All of the activities and worksheets are aligned to the Common Core State Standards.  Education.com also offers online literacy games; however, access to these games is at an additional cost.  The game site, “Brainzy,” gives children a place to practice literacy skills in a safe and ad-free environment.
