IRA Weekly Website #3

For this week, the website that I would like to discuss about is Laura Candler’s Teaching Resources (http://www.lauracandler.com/).  A couple of years ago I stumbled on this site through her Facebook page and found so many useful resources that I still use to this day.  I’m not quite sure if this would be considered a Literacy Website, but I feel that the literacy resources she offers on her site would meet the standards.  So I invite you to drop in, I’m sure you will find something for your class.

Laura Candler has been a classroom teacher for over 30 years.   She has spent quite some time over the years writing books and developing lessons and printable materials.  She enjoys sharing ideas and resources with other teachers and she realized that the best way to carry out this pleasure was through the internet.

Contents on her website are very neat and well organized.  She has tons of freebies that are very useful to use in the classroom including teaching strategies.  Additionally, Laura Candler does offer other educational materials for sale.

Some of the things teachers are able to find are resources for all content subjects including seasonal materials.  In her literacy folder, teachers can avail to various resources such as graphic organizers, poetry, and common core.  Moreover, a favorite of mine is her literacy strategies.  In this area, she gives so many ideas for teaching literacy including the use of online resources.

  1. It is always nice to have a resource that you can use and does not sit around gathering dust. I really like her Filing Cabinet. She has a lot of good information.
