Jump on in The Reading Tub

The Reading Tub, http://thereadingtub.com/index.php, consists of a group of families, grandparents, teachers, students, and librarians all over the United States. This group believes so passionately about literacy that they volunteer their time to create the next generation of readers and break the cycle of illiteracy. The Reading Tub collects and distributes books to at-risk readers, whether it is a child with no books at home or a teacher building a classroom library for her struggling students. Donations fund this work, and 100% of the money they receive goes to providing literacy information and shipping books.
The Reading Tub offers a book review section which lists reviews of titles you may purchase through online sites. These lists are alphabetize and listed in order by age and level of readers. The site also offers an author showcase where two authors are featured. There is also an archive of authors from previous showcases.
The greatest benefit of the site would be the ‘Learning to Read’ section. This section offers an immense amount of resources from literacy facts, reading activities and articles. This section of the site encourages readers to reach their full potential and become successful readers.
This site can become very successful to the users if it is used correctly or even at all. I like the idea of this site because it reinforces what is being taught at school; to enjoy and love reading, along with literacy skills. I believe that if students see parents taking an interest in reading, they too will take that interest in reading. Children usually act in ways others in their environment do. Parents and teachers can become very influential when it comes to reading, and this site helps foster that.
