Reflecting on Storynory

Storynory (http://www.storynory.com/) provides tons of free audio stories for kids. As you explore the very child-friendly site, you will see lists of audio stories from fairytales to classic stories, some with different variations. Storynory also provides its young listeners with original audio book series that you can only find on their site. You have the option of listening to the audio story or following along, as a printed copy of the story is provided as you listen.
Not only is the site full of fun and entertaining audio books, but they also offer educational audios. The educational audios range from books that teach moral lessons, tongue twisters which help with speech, and catch phrases- where Storynory choose a catch phrase from an audio book and explains it’s meaning. A very unique feature of Storynory is the option to double click on any word in the text for translation into a host of languages.
Storynory also provides a ‘Juniors’ section which has a selection of stories that are short and sweet and appeal to younger children. Some of the audio stories include Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs.
Listening to audio books helps develop attention and imagination. It stimulates a love of words. It's educational, but above all, it's a superb form of entertainment. The best part about Storynory is you can take it just about anywhere. Storynory’s audio books, which offers a new story every week, is available through iTunes, by email or you can subscribe in numerous ways for absolutely nothing. So grab your headphones and stop by Storynory at http://www.storynory.com/

  1. I think the audio in i-tunes feature in this site is amazing! It promotes reading to non-readers. This is another site I'm excited to use with my children. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Oh wow! I really like this site. I am already planning in incorporating this with many other websites during my reading time when school starts. I like the idea that there are different genres.
