Reflection #4, J.Reyes

This image sums up how I am feeling at this point in the course.  I just got done catching up on some of the Moodle posts, and realized how little I know about what is on the Internet.  I am sincerely impressed when I see that one of our peers has posted about a website that isn't on any list or that I have never heard of before.  I consider myself a proficient user of technology and the Internet, but I realize that I use only what I know and what I am comfortable with.  If I use something or try to figure it out on my own, and I come across a something I don't understand, I stop using it and go back to using what I know.  Although that isn't the ideal way for me to go about things, it is what I do.  Thankfully, I have never been one to be too proud to ask for help. Admittedly as an adult, I do not do it as often as I could or should.  I am very appreciative of how this course is set up for us to help each other learn about what is out there.

There is still so much to do and I am still having some difficulty keeping track of everything.  I love being able to carry on discussions and post comments from the comfort of my home, but it takes a lot of time for me to go back and forth through everyone's posts on both Moodle and Blogger.  I am really taking the time to go through everyone's posts to see what you all have to say.  It takes a lot of time, but I am learning a lot about what is available to us.

Another thing that amazes me are that there are so many free sites to choose from which have useful and user-friendly tools for teachers, students, and parents.  The way we teach and learn is so different these days.  I am appreciative of all the sites that people (who are probably just like us) have created.

In closing, I am glad to be taking this course and learning about all of the Internet tools available to us.  I feel more confident about being able to guide my students in becoming 21st Century leaners.

Good luck to all of you on your first day back from break.  Have a wonderful day!

  1. It can get confusing going back and forth with Moodle and the Blog. It also takes a lot of time. Right now my kids are doing their homework, so I'm doing mine also. Don't know about dinner, most likely something quick and easy.

    1. Emily, thankfully my husband is still on break for UOG. He is playing the role of "Mr. Mom" while I get all my work for Adacao and UOG done. When he sees me sitting at my laptop, he will ask, "Is that for school or is that homework (meaning UOG)?" Thank goodness for my loving and supportive husband!

  2. I was amazed as well with the amount of free resources available. I definitely bookmarked them for later use. Thanks for sharing!
