I have to admit, I wanted to use RCampus as my CMS tool, but with this being Christmas break and my WHOLE family being at home with me while I try to explore, it just wasn't working out for me, so I chose Engrade. Engrade was a lot easier for me to navigate through and use. It took me some time to complete my unit, but I did it. I'm sure it has it's flaws, but we can only learn to get better, right?
With Engrade, I was able to create a fictitious class, assignments for my students, emailed one of them, created Flashcards, a Quiz and a Wiki(I think). I was able to upload a PowerPoint Presentation, worksheets, a test and a link to a video on the Scientific Method.
Overall, it was a good experience and I never knew these tools were available to educators. I'm sure I will use Engrade in the near future, when I have more time to collect student materials. For now, I will stick to this unit and see how I can make improvements.

I also wanted to use Rcampus, but ended up using Engrade for exactly the same reasons. I was happy with the work that I was able to do on Engrade. Although our district uses PowerTeacher, I would like to try to use Engrade to help enhance student and parent experiences in my classroom.
ReplyDeleteI agree. With PowerTeacher/School, we already have to log in grades on the site, and to have to do it twice, would mean just that, TWICE the work. If only PowerTeacher would integrate some of the features of Engrade into their site, it would only help to enhance our communication with parents and students as well as their online learning. Who knows, maybe they're working on just that. [wishful thinking =) ]
ReplyDeleteIdeally, I would like to develop more lessons or units on Engrade to have everything I need in one place--for lesson implementation and execution. I would still only log grade onto Powerschool. (Crossing my fingers that PowerSchool will develop to include those features that are on Engrade.)
