Reading, A-Z

IRA Newsletter Project: Effective Literacy Website 1:

Reading A-ZWhere teachers go to get everything they need to teach reading

The Reading A-Z website, a product site of Learning A-Z (http://www.learninga-z.com/index.html), is built for teachers and is equipped with printable and projectable books at 27 levels of reading difficulty, along with shared reading books, materials for literature circles, phonics and phonological awareness resources, close reading packs and lessons to meet Common Core's ELA standards, and much more!
As you navigate through the user-friendly site, you will find an abundant list of resource books; leveled readers, read-alouds, decodable books, poetry, comics, as well as books related to different content areas. The site also hosts an immense list of books which focus on key reading skills, foundational skills and the Common Core. The website is packed with resources for your English Language Learner, has Instructional Uses for Interventions as well as many forms of Assessments.
A special aspect of the site is the Teacher’s Corner which helps you figure out where you need to start and helps you get organized. A ‘File Cabinet’ is also handy and allows you to save, organize and re-use folders of resources you enjoy the most.
A great addition to this site is the option to have students log in, read books and take quizzes. This option aids in the improvement of your students reading skills by listening for modeled fluency, reading for practice, recording their reading and checking for comprehension with follow up quizzes.

All of these features are worth looking into at Reading A-Z (http://www.readinga-z.com/ or http://www.raz-kids.com/), where the site offers a Free Trial.

Watch this Video Clip for more on how to use RAZ Kids with Reading A - Z.

  1. Great website. I didn't know that this site had so many resources. I've used it before when downloading leveled books for another graduate course that I took earlier. I will be using this site to access tools for my ELL students. Thanks for sharing!
