Read Think Write

Website: Read Write Think

There are a vast amount of online resources with the mission to promote literacy. In the next few weeks, I will write reviews on some of my favorite websites that provide useful and practical information to you as either an educator, parent or just passionate about reading and writing like I am.
Today, I chose to write about the Read Write Think website whose mission is to “provide educators, parents and afterschool professionals with access to the highest quality practices in reading and language arts instruction by offering the very best in free materials.” I really enjoy browsing this site.
Read Think Write offers excellent ways to engage all age groups from emerging readers to teenagers. You can search the site by grade level, resource type (activities and projects, games and tools, tips and how-to’s etc.), learning objective or theme.
In addition, I found great journal articles for educators under Professional Development and Strategy Guides. I chose to read up on Developing Evidence-Based Arguments from Texts and found a step-by-step guide to teaching evidence-based argumentation for writing. The topics are so many interesting topics to choose from.
I hope you will enjoy this site as much as I do. This site has helped sparked so many ideas for my classroom.

  1. It's amazing how much free and useful information is available to students, parents, and teachers. This is not a site I have frequented in the past, but will definitely do so from now on.

  3. What immediately caught my attention to this site was the classroom resources most especially the interactive activities. I love how everything is free and has resources for practically every grade level. I'm always trying to get my hands on free printables to use with my students. Thank you for sharing a wonderful site!

  4. I appreciate all this website has to offer. Thank you for sharing. Like Joshlyn, I too look for free printable to use in my classroom. Thank you for sharing. I'll definitely save this website for future use.

  5. Since I teach middle school, what I really like about this website is that it is also geared for 12-14 years old. A lot of the websites are only for early childhood and elementary age students.
