Labrador Reflection 1:

The last time I ever did any online interaction was in 2003, when I took "Quantitative Analysis" with Dr. Inoue. I was quite comfortable with the technology at the time, considering that I was hired and trained to become an educational specialist at the University of Guam, under the TRIO Programs of my undergraduate years.  I always thought that I was ahead of everyone in this game. And so, throughout my professional career as an educator, I thought that I knew much about internet communication and research. I was dead wrong after taking this intercession course.

I will admit, at first, that I took the class thinking I would ace it because of my knowledge of internet tools. However, after being introduced to "Moodle" and "Blogger," I realized I still needed to learn more about the internet. I became humbled.

My experiences, thus far, have been enlightening. Being introduced to all these internet resources from my peers really opened up my teaching boundaries.  I expect to gain more knowledge and a wonderful learning experience from this course. I am so glad I enrolled this intercession!

  1. Your honestly is refreshing and appreciated. I feel the same way about my "teaching boundaries." I am eager to learn more and add to what I already know. We need to prepare our students to be effective users of the Internet and technology. Here's to expanding our teaching knowledge!

  2. Francis,

Great reflection! Based on my observation, you are quite tech savvy. There's no doubt that "Learning is ongoing!" There are various Internet tools, resources, etc. that can enhance instruction. You will certainly continue to learn additional ways on how to use the Internet for teaching and learning. Good luck, and keep up the great work!

    Best regards,
    Dr. Rivera

  3. Thank you Francis for your great reflection. I appreciate the honesty. I admit that I felt the same way and continue to struggle with the fact that I don't know as much as I thought I did. It becomes very easy to settle into our ways and not expand that horizon. I am once again thankful that this class provides that opportunity to just sit and "play" with a website. I am also thankful for the products and resources we will walk away with from this course.
