I decided to give Engrade a go. I am not familiar with either of the three (Engrade, CourseSites, RCampus). The CMS that I am most familiar with is TeacherEase- this is what I have been using for the past three years. Of the three, Engrade was the most visually appealing to me upon first glance. I quickly set up my personal account and was happy that the site is FREE to use. You are able to purchase an upgrade, however, the basic features are sufficient. Some of the basic features include: flashcards, quizzes, wikis and files.
One of the features that I was happy to see was the Discussions tab where teachers can generate a topic of discussion for their students to comment on. You are able to change the settings to either allow or prohibit students from posting topics for discussion.
I look forward to using this site as a way to incorporate technology in my classroom! I'll keep you posted on my progress.

It was a bit difficult for me to make a decision on which tool to use. They all offered many useful features. I am looking forward to testing them out.
ReplyDeleteI am on the same boat as you. These sites are all new to me. While it is fun exploring new sites, the only true gauge of effectiveness for your particular classroom and style is by usage- trial and error.
ReplyDeleteI also like Engrade. It is great that flashcards, quizzes, wikis, and files are part of the basic features and that they are free.
